Word or Term Description or Explanation
Z-Modem Z-modem is a file transfer protocol of much more recent vintage than X and Y-modem protocols, but it bears little resemblance to them - about all it really shares is Z being the next letter of the alphabet! - amongst other improvements, it allows you to re-start a file transfer at the last accurately received block, and the error-checking is more robust
ZIF Zero Insertion Force - a type of socket that allows chips to be plugged in without any force, a lever is then pulled to grab the chip's legs

ZIP a type of compressed archive for storing files (SparkFS can de-archive it)
Zip Discs / Drive a 100Mb capacity drive developed by Iomega which is removable and acts similar to a 100Mb capacity floppy drive - now also available in a 250Mb size
