Decompression danger — Unzip only in RiscOS
In most cases the files offered here are compressed into a Zip file, and the usual caveat applies:
Use only RiscOS to open (decompress) the Zip file. Do not use a foreign operating system (such as Windows or Mac or Linux) to decompress RiscOS stuff, because it will mangle the Acorn filetypes within the Zip.
The standard RiscOS harddisc will have !SparkFS or !Sparkplug or a similar utility to do the job; it normally lives in the Utilities directory.
Software files to download
Some articles in the magazine have accompanying files, such as:
- software listings to save you typing them in
- ready-to-go utilities
- photos larger or more colourful than those printed
- details omitted from the printed magazine for space reasons.
